Cathy Graas is a graduate from St. Martha School. She worked at the Southeast YMCA before starting Saint Martha’s summer/afterschool care program in 1999. She also started the preschool program in 2003, which she taught for 11 years. Taking some time away from being a lead teacher, she subbed in the school for three years. In the summer of 2016, she began working in the school office, learning many different skills. Currently, she is in the role as librarian two days a week, while continuing to work in the office three days.
Q & A with Mrs. Graas
I love encouraging children to learn.
Every day is a clean slate to learn and grow.
Favorite part of teaching:
Seeing the children get excited! I love when they restate something they learned. They get excited and you can see the “I got it look”.
Favorite teaching memory:
So many funny things my class members say and do daily. The smiles and “hi!” in the hallway or outside of school. I also remember saying the Rosary with a class by the statue of Mary; it was a meaningful moment.
Favorite thing about St. Martha:
We offer so many actives year round for everyone. Sport events for students and adults, fun parties, picnics, and time to hangout with other families. This is how we get to know one another and become a stronger community!
My hope for my students:
To enjoy school, learn, and create memories.
I am married with three children. I graduated from U of L, Go CARDS!
