Alesha Jones

Alesha Jones lives and breathes music! Her sincere passion for theater and music has had a big impact on our students. Everything from her introducing music to our preschoolers and primary students, to encouraging and supporting the musical interests and talents of our maturing middle school students. She comes to us from up north in Minnesota where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Performance from North Central University. During her studies, she performed in the university’s choir around Europe and was very involved with theater. As well as her love for teaching, she also has a passion for the arts. She started an auditioned choir and directs the Christmas and spring musical programs each year. She also teaches voice and piano privately after school for those that wish to further their education.

"The thing I am most passionate about is being able to influence my love of music to students. My hope is that they find some sort of love or appreciation for music by the time they leave St. Martha."

Q & A with Mrs. Jones

Highlight of the year:

The highlights of the year for me are the performances. The Christmas program with the PreK-3rd grade, the spring musical with the middle school and the instrument performance for 5th grade.

Passion:

The thing I am most passionate about is being able to influence my love of music to students. My hope is that they find some sort of love or appreciation for music by the time they leave St. Martha.

Philosophy:

I absolutely believe that any student can be successful in music. Whether it is with an instrument, writing lyrics, singing or composing songs.

Favorite part of teaching:

I love being able to make an impact on the lives of my students by sharing moments, learning new things or showing them a side of them they never knew. I hope my love of music helps them appreciate what music has to offer.

Favorite teaching memory:

My favorite memory always involves seeing the students perform either in class or on stage. I can’t pick just one!

Favorite thing about St. Martha:

My favorite thing is how close-knit the community is. I have always felt welcome, loved and appreciated. Anyone who enters this school will feel that warmth every time.

My hope for my students:

I hope that they find what they are passionate about and do absolutely everything they can to succeed in that area. I hope that they don’t let negative comments or influence affect their dreams and work their hardest.

Fun fact:

I obviously love music and everything about it. From playing the piano, to singing or performing on stage to going to see musicals. Besides that, I am an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and really enjoying watching sports and playing them for fun. I also love shopping and finding great deals! My husband, family and friends are extremely important to me. I don’t know what I would do without them.
