PTO

Our Purpose

To promote educational growth and spiritual welfare.

To strive towards improving understanding and cooperation between parents and teachers.

 

Meetings

Monthly PTO board meetings are held from August through May. Two general meetings are held each year – on ein conjunction with Mock Schedule Night in the fall, the other in early spring. All arents are welcome to attend!

 

Funds/Profits

All monies earned by the PTO are given back to St. Martha School and its students. These funds are used to purchase new equipment, technology and instructional supplies needed by the school.

PTO Committees

Campus Store – St. Martha branded apparel and merchandise is available for sale at “pop-up events” throughout the year and through monthly promotions in the Rock Report (daily email to families).

Chili Supper – The Chili Supper is held annually in January. Chili is served in Bethany Center (the gym) and a festival of games and booths are hosted.  Volunteers are needed to help serve food and work booths.

Father/Daugher & Mother/Son Events – A Father/Daugher dance and Mother/Son activity are sponsored annually. Volunteers are needed to set up, staff and clean up events.

Health Events & Records – This committee maintains immunization and physical records for each student. Annual screenings are held to obtain information on each student in accordance with the Jefferson County Health Department (height, weight, hearing and vision tests and scoliosis screening). All information is kept confidential and remains part of each student’s permanent record. Volunteers are needed to help with the screenings. The committee also helds various health education activities throughout the school year.

Homecoming – PTO works with Sports Ministry as needed to coordinate details of the event each fall and to secure clean up help afterwards.

Homeroom Parents – Homeroom Parents coordinate the school holiday parties – Halloween, Christmas and Valentine’s Day. Additional volunteers assist with parties and provide treats.

Hospitality – This committee helps welcome and orient new families through a variety of events and materials.

Picnic Booth – The PTO runs a booth at the annual parish picnic. Volunteers are needed to work the booth.

Retail Fundraising – The PTO leverages national programs, retailers and aps that donate back to St. Martha when purchases are made, Specifically:

  • Amazon Smile – St. Martha earns 0.5% on purchases made through smile.amazon.com
  • Box Tops for Education donates money for each Box Top collected at St. Martha. Students earn dress down days every other month for turning in Box Tops. There are also collection drives twice a year with classroom competitions and prize incentives.
  • Shoparoo is a free ap that turns pictures of your shopping receipts inot cash donations and sweepstakes entries for St. Martha. See Shoparoo.com for more.

Santa’s Workshop – Santa’s Workshop provides students with an opportunity to purchase gifts for family and friends. The event takes place during two school days in early December. Volunteers help inventory the merchandise, price items, set up tables and help the children shop.

Skating Parties – Monthly skating parties are held throughout the school year at Robben’sRoost. The parties are help from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays in the fall and Thursdays in the spring. Each party has a theme and students are entered into a prize drawing for attending.

Shamrock Games – A series fo field events are set up for students. At the endof the day, nominated teachers and upperclassmen compete in various stunts. Raffle prizes are also awarded at the event. Volunteers are needed to work the games.

Spirit Nights – Each month on a designated evening eat at Bearno’s Bowman Field, Angio’s Pizza or chick-Fil-A and a percentage of all purchases will be donated to St. Martha.

Spring Fling – Spring Fling is a festival held during the school day on the Thursday before Derby. Carnival gaves are held at Bethany Center. Chances on various donated items are sold on this day too. Volunteers are needed to work various booths and games.

Teacher Appreciation – This committee provides gifts, meals and treats at Back to School time. Christmas, Catholic Schools Week and fall and spring conferences. A luncheon to honor the faculty and staff is held every spring. donations are collected from school families to fund the event. Volunteers are needed to help organize and work at the luncheon.

Used Uniform Sale – The sale is held annually, around back to school time. volunteers are needed to help display the items and collect money.
