Q & A with Ms. Schelb

Highlight of the year:
The highlight of my year is always the first day of school! I love getting to welcome the students into the classroom so they can learn and explore. This is a great time for me to get to know all of the students and share my love for school with them as we began our school year together.
Passion:
When it comes to education, I am most passionate about creating a positive learning environment for the students. This includes forming a strong relationship with the students to allow them to be their true selves in the classroom. I want all students to feel comfortable to make mistakes and have their biggest accomplishments.
Philosophy:

My philosophy is to have students engage in learning throughout active, hands-on lessons. Students learn in many different ways so it is my goal to learn about my students’ learning and find out what best fits their learning styles.

Favorite part of teaching:

My favorite part of teaching is creating strong relationships with the students and their families. This allows me to create a positive classroom community where I can share the fun things we are doing throughout the day.

Favorite thing about St. Martha:
My favorite thing about St. Martha is the AMAZING community! In my first year of teaching, I had never felt so much support by every single person in the school building.
My hope for my students:

My hope is that my students love coming to school everyday and learning something new. First grade is such an amazing year for students to grow and I can’t wait to see how much each and every student grows throughout the school year.

Fun fact:

I have been a part of the St. Martha community since 2003 when I started pre-school here!
